Olivier Rœllinger's words
Wayanadan Black are good-sized peppercorns. They have a distinctive fragrance that enhances cooked vegetables and vegetable curries.
Story
Wayanadan pepper comes from a single pepper varietal that's native to North Kerala.
This pepper is also a Tellicherry Garbled Special Extra Bold (TGSEB) peppercorn. Like Malabar MG1, Tellicherry is a size calibration that groups peppercorns that are at least 4.5mm in diameter.
Wayanadan pepper plants were at risk of extinction in 2013, but today, they are increasingly grown on small farms throughout Kerala.
