Olivier Rœllinger's words

This is probably the most widely-used spice blend in the world, and it is especially popular in southern China and Southeast Asia. Star anise’s licorice notes characterize the blend, which epitomizes the flavors of China.
Chinese Five-Spice Powder can be used to season marinades for poultry (duck, chicken), meat (glazed pork), and fish. It can also be added to Chinese noodle dishes.

Story

This blend, which is sometimes called "Five Chinese Flavors," subtly balances five spices: Szechuan peppercorns, fennel, star anise, cinnamon, and clove to reflect the five tastes (hot, sour, salty, bitter, sweet) and the five natural elements.
Chinese Five-Spice Powder was very popular in the 1970’s and never goes out of style.
